Chairman’s Welcome

Geoff Miles

Geoff Miles
Chairman, Kent and Medway Economic Partnership

Kent and Medway are at the heart of the South East Local Economic Partnership (LEP). As part of the LEP, we need a strong voice to attract new investment, plan for the future and take action to remove the barriers to economic growth. With that in mind, the new Kent and Medway Economic Partnership (KMEP) was established as an informal, public-private body to drive forward growth and prosperity in Kent and Medway.

KMEP’s Board consists of 17 business representatives, 14 local authority leaders, and one representative from each of higher and further education. The Board was responsible for delivering a draft economic growth plan for Kent and Medway, Unlocking the Potential: Going for Growth. It was included by the South East LEP as part of their draft Strategic Economic Plan, which was submitted to Government on 19 December.

The South East LEP has since submitted a full Strategic Economic Plan to the Government in March 2014. This will support the South East’s allocation of funding from the Government’s Local Growth Fund for 2015/16 and beyond.
